Changes to the minimum wage
From 1 October 2014, there have been changes to the set National Minimum wage.
- For workers over 21, their hourly rate has been increased to £6.50, a rise of 19p per hour.
- For those working as part of an apprentice scheme and who are under 19 or in their first year of an apprentice, their hourly pay has increased by 5p per hour, totaling now £2.73 per hour.
- Workers who are aged between 18 and 20 have had their minimum pay increased to £5.13, a rise of 10p per hour.
- Finally, for the under 18’s their hourly rate is now £3.79, a rise of 7p per hour.
