Self-assessment paper tax return filing date coming up – 31 October

The final date for filing any self-assessment paper tax returns for the year ended 5 April 2014 is 31st October 2014.

Filing online?

Figurit file all tax returns online extending the deadline to 31 January 2015.

Immediate £100 penalty

Failure to comply with the deadlines results in an immediate £100 penalty, regardless of if there is any tax due or not, and if the return is still not filed after 3 months then £10 per day penalties are applied. These charges increase again if the return is still outstanding after 6 and 12 months. Best not to miss the filing deadlines if you want to avoid losing £100 or potentially much more.
